Our Wedding Story

Peter & Claire

Peter and Claire, Doxford Barns

The 1st ever wedding ceremony held at Doxford Barns.

A beautiful wedding and it was Doxford Barns's first ever wedding ceremony and my 100th wedding.  The venue were so impressed with presence on the day they decided to recomended me straight away which shows they have faith in my service, and best of all they love my images.

Doxford Barn's Reccommeded Wedding photographer

Doxford Barn is new and exciting wedding venue, with an approximate 150 person capacity ceremony barn, 200 person capacity reception, cottage accommodation, lakeside, gardens and farmland. It is set in the beautiful coastal region of Northumberland and is set to be one of the most popular rural wedding destinations in the area in my opinion. If you are looking for the address it is Doxford Farm, Chathill, Alnwick, Northumberland NE67 5DY. Their website for more information: http://doxfordweddings.com.

Doxford Barn was a new wedding venue but any outdoor venue is going to suit my style of work. So Peter and Claire knew after looking through a long list of photographers that I would be a perfect fit for their Doxford Barn Wedding.

I knew not many weddings would have been held here so I drove up a week before the wedding to have a quick look around. Little did I know when I arrived for the wedding that this was going to be Doxford Barn's first wedding ceremony. So this was a very special day for them and a very special day for me too as it was my 100th wedding. I soon came to the conclusion that this had to really rock for both me and Doxford Barn on this special occasion. After speaking with the staff at Doxford Barn not only did I click with them straight away but I found them very friendly and efficient. Doxford Barn share my ideals in that they want to be seen as a reputable business but one that really cares.  Doxford Barn are passionnate about what they do and that really impressed me as it was something I could relate to. Most of my work comes through word of mouth so I understood their view straight away.

Karen, a helper for the day showed me a few high spots of the area before introducing me to Katrina the lease holders partner. I have a very focused and organised approach and they were so great to accommodate my needs so quickly.

So it was my 100th wedding, what did I decide to do to make it really special. Well I wanted to paint a picture unique to Peter and Claire's wedding story but I wanted to push a few boundaries too. So after a half a day of shooting, during the meals I arranged with the staff to produce a scrolling display of their wedding. It went down such a treat that there and then Doxford Barns were willing to recommend me to future clients. Of course Peter and Claire and guests found it fantastic to see my images scrolling in a vintage style slideshow.

At the end of the night I did something I have never done at a wedding before and I danced with the brides mother, Jung, she was a lovely lady and I thought it would be a nice addition to the day as I had got along with everyone so well.

Peter and Claire were a perfect couple and I mean that in a number of ways. They suited each other to look at, as well as personally and they were great to work with. The fact that they had chosen me out of a long list of others showed their commitment to my style and their trust in my vision. So on their day I asked them what they wanted to do for the couples shots and they were happy for me to guide them and they felt so comfortable in front of the camera too. Most people don't feel that comfortable and require and engagement shoot before hand but Peter and Claire just worked with me every step of the way. I worked with them too and followed up any request they had.

With this being my 100th wedding, Doxford Barns 1st wedding, the staff being so accommodating, organised and efficient and easy to work with, Peter and Claire and all of their guests being so relaxed, this was a great wedding. Peter and Claire live a mile from me and have promised to meet up with me for a drink in Tynemouth so Im looking forward to that!

Peter bought a chainsaw...

We made all our wedding stationary RSVPs, name cards and invites. Peter bought a chainsaw and cut all the wood for the table centres and names card holders.  My mum, my auntie Sang Ae and myself did all the flowers ourselves.  We basically did as much ourselves as we could, adding as many personal touches as possible, including folding 150 origami swans!

"We first Paul the day before our wedding, he had to travel down the other end of the country to meet us, he spent hours at our venue planning out our day and was a treat to talk to.  On the day he couldn't be anything but accommodating and so patient to our needs.  We are stunned to see what he created, the final product was just breathtaking.  We can't wait to get our album now!  Thank you Paul."

It was lovely to be able to spend time with you both.  You are an awesome couple and I wish you the very best!  Paul Liddement.
